The E4SD Policy Dialogue is a complementary capacity building activity of the E4SD initiative. The primary aim of the Policy Dialogue is to promote active dialogue, exchange of ideas and options aimed at addressing and responding to key challenges related to energy for sustainable development.
The session seeks to bring together experienced energy and development professionals from a range of institutions including government, NGOs, multilateral and bilateral Official Development Assistance (ODA) businesses and the private sector, who are engaged in energy and development activities in developing countries.
Unlike the E4SD Online Course, the Policy Dialogue typically focuses on one specific topic only that will be addressed in greater depth. “Scenarios as a tool for energy planning and policy making” was the focal theme of the first Policy Dialogue session delivered from June to August 2010. The forthcoming E4SD Policy Dialogue addresses the topic of financing mechanisms for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in developing countries.
E4SD Policy Dialogue: "Financing mechanisms for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in developing countries”, 23 August – 3 October 2010
The Policy Dialogue seeks to bring together energy and development professionals to discuss various financing mechanisms for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. It also addresses the current challenges related to project financing.
The Policy Dialogue consists of a variety of readings and interactive forum discussions, where sharing of knowledge and experience from participants are an essential part of the learning and capacity building process. As such, the session also seeks to generate a brainstorming of ideas on potential and feasible actions that can contribute to accelerating investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies in developing countries.
The Policy Dialogue session requires a work input of about 40 hours over a period of six weeks. It will be entirely conducted through the E4SD online platform.
